On the right is a standard way of fighting the miniboss, using tornadoes and then switching to a different weapon after he comes down.
On the left is a newer version involving opening with boomerangs, switching to tornado at the last moment to get extra damage in. Subsequent attacks from the wall use C.sting into tornado instead of boomerang, and those only occur if Thunder Slimer does not come down from the ceiling. You bait him to come down between HETSTINGNADO attacks to maximize the likelihood of a better fight.
If anything goes wrong, getting trapped in bubbles, etc. you can salvage the situation somewhat by just using boomerangs and shooting at 10 frame intervals.
The fight in the video is not-ideal (but shows how the fight can/should flow) vs ideal fight. Comparing bad luck to bad luck is likely much more favorable for the new method, as it has more reliable damage output without needing to go off the walls.
